All market sheep, swine, goats and prospect calves must have verification of ownership by Discovery Day of the current year. Official tagging will take place at the Fairgrounds on Discovery Day. for the 2026 Fair. Each exhibitor may tag one extra animal per species. All animals must have an official, permanent ear tag in order to be shown. Once the ear tag is placed it may not be removed for any reason. If you have any problems with the tag (falls out, lost, etc.) you must contact your species superintendent immediately. ANIMALS NOT VERIFIED (TAGGED) WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LIVESTOCK AUCTION AT THE FAIR. The exhibitors may tag an extra animal if available only at tag in to accommodate any unforeseen problems or accidents.

Note: First year exhibitors must meet all ownership requirements for their species and must have animals tagged no later than the June 1ST Fair entry deadline and must call the Fair Office to arrange for tagging. Tagging of livestock exhibits must be at the fairgrounds on the assigned date(s). If you are unable to attend the date of tag in, you must contact the Fair Office to request an alternate tag in date form. This form must be completed and returned to the fair office 30 days before the original tag in date.

Breed exhibits do not have to be tagged at Discovery Day, but must have ownership of the animal by Discovery Day.
