SUPERINTENDENTS:
Learning Objective: To develop artistic techniques and knowledge through the creation and display of various crafts.
Rules: Exhibitors may enter no more than one entry per class except in Miscellaneous Crafts which has a maximum of 2 entries. Articles made are judged according to the exhibitor’s age. Originality and creativity count. All exhibits intended for hanging must be furnished with a hook or mounting device. Macramé exhibits must not exceed 2’ x 4’ (or 8 square feet) in size. Removable/breakable objects are not to be left in macramé displays. Exhibitor should use techniques typical of good practices used according to the class they are entered in. Attendance is recommended at time of judging.
Rules for Ceramics: All ceramics must be dated with initials where visible. Plaster must be permanently dated. Make sure correct class is entered. If you are unsure please call the Superintendent. Ceramics (both glazed and bisque) other than original are usually hollow and have been fired. Plaster is molded usually solid, never fired.
NANCY BRANDON MEMORIAL TROPHY
2019 Winner:
This trophy is given in honor of Nancy Brandon who loved life and had many interests, but whose first love was crafts. The Crafts Department Superintendent will make the determination based upon the largest number of entries a youth has entered and placed.
Donated by Nancy Brandon’s daughter, Debbie Morgan. A trophy will be awarded, and a plaque engraved with the winner’s name will be displayed at the Fairgrounds.

DIVISION 10 HANDCRAFTED SOAPS
Three different soap making methods, all with different traits. Keep bars to a 4-5 ounce size (regular sized soap bar), but choose your shape and design as desired. NO PACKAGING. INCLUDE RECIPE ON AN 8 ½ X 11 PAGE IN A 3 HOLE PAGE PROTECTOR.
Melt and Pour (M & P) Soap
Using transparent or opaque pre-made soap base that has been melted. Color, fragrances, etc. can be added, then poured into a mold to create a decorative soap bar. Include recipe.
Cold Process (CP) Soap
Using oils, fats and sodium hydroxide (LYE) to create a bar of soap. Color, additive, fragrance as desired. Include recipe.
Hand-Milled Soap
Grating/shredding pre-made soap bar, melting then adding additives such as fragrances, oils, herbs and re-molding. Include recipe.
