SHOOTING SPORTS

DEPARTMENT 72

SUPERINTENDENT: TBD

Learning Objective: To demonstrate proper safety skills in using the equipment and accuracy while performing the shooting event.

The Shooting Tournament date time and location will be posted on the website. Education projects are checked in and judged at the Oakland County Sportsman Club that same day.

Rules for Shooting Sports:

1.All tournament contestants must furnish their own equipment (eye and ear protection) and ammunition. See each DIVISION for specifics.

2.Each contestant must bring their own shootable bow and a minimum of 6 arrows.

3.Rifle and Shotgun participants must show hunter safety certificate or recent hunting license. This is our verification as to any instruction a youth may have been given with a firearm.

4.Contestant must cover any range fees needed. Shotgun only.

5.Tournament participants must enter records or a project in corresponding area in order to receive medallion.

6.NO PREMIUMS WILL BE PAID FOR TOURNAMENTS. Each class will be awarded gold, silver, & bronze medallions.

7.No live ammunition or working firearms may be displayed in the Ellis Barn Exhibit Hall.

8.Record Book is available the Fair Office or online at www.oakfair.org. SEPARATE RECORD BOOK needed for each: archery, rifle or shotgun.

9.Exhibitors ages 5-7 years old are ineligible to enter classes in this division.

Placings and Awards:

Division 1 and 7: 1-6 Strip Ribbons and Premium Money.

Divisions 2-6, 8-10: Gold, Silver and Bronze medallions.

Best of Show ( Divisions 1 and 7): 1-6 Rosettes, First Place- $5.00 and Trophy


DIVISION 1- ARCHERY PROJECTS

The exhibit displays information about the practice and art of shooting with a bow and

arrow. This project does not involve shooting.

720101 First year exhibitors only safety Trifold Display

720102 Educational Exhibit Trifold Display on archery, must include notebook.

720103 Handmade article relating to archery, must include notebook.

720104 Archery Record Book (includes your shooting history)

DIVISION 2– ARCHERY-BARE BOW

Tournament using a bare bow and arrow at a target.

Class:

720201 8-11 years old 10 yards, 5 flights of 6 arrows (300 points possible)

720202 12-14 years old 20 yards, 5 flights of 6 arrows (300 points possible)

720203 15-19 years old- 20 yards, 5 flights of 6 arrows (300 points possible)

DIVISION 3-ARCHERY- COMPOUND BOW

Compound bow no mechanical releases. Spot target-20 yards, 5 flights of 6 arrows (300 points possible).

DIVISION 4 –ARCHERY-COMPOUND BOW WITH CONTROLLED RELEASE

Spot target-20 yards, 5 flights of 6 arrows (300 points possible)

DIVISION 5-ARCHERY-TRADITIONAL BOW

Traditional bow of less than 3 woods, no sights, no kisser buttons, no releases except for thumb rings, no artificial arrow rests. Spot target-20 yards, 5 flights of 6 arrows (300 points possible).

DIVISION 6-ARCHERY-RECURVE BOW

Recurve no non-compound bow with pins or scope.
